Cambridge University Department of Chemistry
Located at the heart of the historic Cambridge city centre, the department of chemistry in Cambridge aims to support high quality science. It covers a broad spectrum of chemical science from a large number of world renowned and recognised research groups. The departments facilities plays host to 200 research staff, 250 postgrad students and approximately 60 academic staff.
Cambridge University is one of the most prestigious universities in world. The university is made up of 31 colleges and hosts over 150 departments, faculties and institutions and the affiliates of the University have won more Nobel prizes than any other institution with the first dating back to 1904.
As a local laboratory furniture manufacturer based in the Cambridge area and having performed lots of previous laboratory refurbishments for Cambridge University, InterFocus was awarded the task to supply and refurbish the Chemistry labs within the department.
The project required a bespoke design and to manufacturer and install a designated write up area for laboratory staff.
Using our extensive experience and knowledge, we provided a design that incorporated IROKO solid wood worktops that allowed for a modern design yet stay in keeping with the traditional look of the department building.
Ensuring constant contact with the client during both the design phase and installation process, ensured we delivered the project that the client both wanted and needed.
As part of the installation process we had to coordinate and work closely with other contractors involved in the project to ensure the project ran smoothly and finished on-time and on-budget.
